In times of grief, stories bring light.
Welcome to Stories to Cherish.
When one of my best friends, Ana, passed away unexpectedly, I felt incredibly lost. While trying to manage my own jumble of emotions, I also did my best to be there for her family and searched for something valuable, lasting, and actually useful. I did not want to give flowers, crystals or candles. I wanted something that would help them en myself celebrate her life and connect with her and my own friends and family. That was the start of Stories to Cherish.

Made out of love, they can help spark conversation about someone you miss, while also providing a chance for children to get creative while remembering her.
With love,
Mathilde
Hi there, I'm Anouke, originally from the Netherlands and now living in Sydney with my husband Levi and our three kids. It was in Sydney where I met Mathilde and heard about Ana's story. Learning about Mathilde's struggle with grief and how she coped by cherishing memories and sharing stories of Ana, I witnessed how memories and storytelling brought light into Mathilde's darkest days of grief was truly inspiring.
Inspired by Mathilde's strength and her desire to help others, I joined Stories to Cherish. I am a self-proclaimed 'grief dummy'. So far, I've been fortunate enough not to have had to confront the raw side of life head-on. However, I've witnessed the life-changing impact that the loss of a loved one can have on those around me.
Trying to comprehend it fully, I believe, is an impossible task. From my mother, who lost her sister in a car accident, I learned that it's crucial to break the silence, to talk to people about their loved ones. Happiness is easily shared, but what about sorrow? To be honest, I find that challenging. I may have even unintentionally avoided those I care about during their times of grief.

Stories to Cherish is here to assist grief dummies like myself in supporting those who have lost someone dear to them. It's about remembering the person who has passed away together, celebrating their life, engaging in conversation, asking questions, sharing stories, and perhaps, maybe, hopefully, bringing some light into times of grief.
With love,
Anouke
